Training for Primary Teachers
Workshops will be provided in your school and can be tailored to your specific needs.
The day can be divided between different aspects of Art such as printmaking, textiles,
painting & drawing etc, or can be organised by different Key Stages.
Each workshop can be tailor made to fit in with your schemes of work or can be
designed to develop particular skills. Classroom management is built into every
workshop.

Textiles Workshops
A workshop covering the basics of applying colour and design to fabrics. Ideas for
using fabric paints and fabric crayons will be provided or can be tailored to fit in
with your scheme of work.
More advanced techniques including Batik, using transfer paints & crayons, silk
painting and fabric dyes can also be included.

Working in 3D
A very popular workshop that covers a wide range of materials and techniques, and
includes how to manage this type of work in the primary classroom and how to keep
costs to a minimum.
This workshop can include using Mod Roc, papier maché, willow canes (withies),
a new material called Koloron® and some scrap materials. Methods of joining,
adding colour and detail are also included. Pictures of the results from 3D workshops

A Thematic Approach to Art
This workshop will take a single theme such as Natural Form and will consider
different activities that can be included. Drawing, painting, printing, textiles
and working in 3D will all be covered and development of basic skills and
progression will be built in.

Printmaking
This workshop can include printing with found objects, basic block printing, making your
own printing blocks, printing on fabrics and mono printing.
Development of single colour prints, 2 or more colour printing and the basics of repeat
patterns can be included if desired. Ideal for those who would like some new ideas or
for teachers with little experience of printmaking.

Painting & Colour Mixing
A range of ideas for working with colour including basic colour theory and interesting ways
to teach these basic concepts. Ideas for sketchbook work and for fully realised pieces will
be included. We will cover using a range of different media such as paint, pencils, pastels
etc and will can include working with fabric paints and printing inks if desired.

Take One Picture
A single image will be used as the starting point for a wide range of work. Provide your
own image or choose from a suggested range. The focus can be on using particular media or
on particular skills. As well as a variety of Art activities there will be suggestions
for making this a truly cross-curricular project.
